Last time I was in Killeen was back in '63 and it was just a little-bitty town then.

I've mentioned this on anothe thread some time back.  When I was at Texas Tech I dispatched part time for AID Ambulance. One of our guys showed up with a little blue Vitalite one time that he had just bought. Boss asked him what it was for and he said that he did roadside assistance in his spare time. No big deal, since blue alone isn't an emergency color in TX.   But we all knew when we saw him put the light on top of his car and leave it there that something wasn't right.

Sure enough I started hearing scanner traffic about a guy in an old dark Chevy running around with a blue light stopping people.  I told the  boss who warned the guy and things settled down a bit.  But not long after he made the mistake of pulling over an  unmarked police unit.  That was the end of his blue light and his job at AID.

So retro it hurts...

First up, mall security at Clearview Mall in Butler, PA.

Next two were taken at Cracker Barrel in New Stanton, PA.  As I recall, this Jeep had a sticker or plate identifying it as belonging to a local volunteer firefighter.

What's wrong with this one? I think it looks OK. If it works, use it. Not everything has to be the newest, best, and greatest.

The StreetHawk on the Jeep is pretty OK with me!!
I echo both of these. That said, back in the day when I had a CJ-5, I always wanted to mount a TwinSonic on it and I think that would go better on this one, too. ;)

I don't see a thing wrong with either of the Jeeps.  Ector County used to have a Sheriff's Posse Jeep Patrol.  All of the guys had lights and sirens, but most of them were rather low-key: bumper lights and fender-mounted motor sirens.  In their latter years you saw strobes and electronic sirens.

The top Jeep reminds me of the mall in Odessa. They had a Jeep wagon for security and it had an early LED bar that was all blue, but it hasn't been around in a long time.  Midland mall's security vehicle is running an all-amber LED bar.

I do like the blue Jeep. The blue bar goes quite well with it.

Did you think to ask him why he is running all clear?
He uses it for lawncare, also found out he is here in GA. As long as you have a Amber Light permit, you are allowed to run white also. Didn't ask him if he had one, but if you wanna, his phone number is in his other video.

------

This guy has a amber permit, but is breaking the law with blue lights. Other then that it isnt a bad setup.

Recently saw this around town.... Funeral vehicle that runs Amber/Purple and has a LARGE amount of Whelen lights including a fully populated liberty in the rear and also an inner edge in front....

I think that's actually clear. Just going through the tint makes it look blue. Halfway descent sync. Too busy in the rear.

I guess there is alot of money in putting people to rest. Enough to go overboard on lights for just a funeral.

You make a good point, Paul, but remember there are a lot of places where funeral processions aren't escorted.  Here in West Texas all funerals have police escorts.  I've seen some large cities that have private escort companies (something else to pay for).   In my part of West Texas (Midland and Odessa) you can be stopped and ticketed if you fail to pull over for a funeral procession.

So I'd think it's worth it to have a bit more lighting if the procession has to operate on its own.

In 1968 my grandmother passed away in Fall River, MA.  It was the first time that either my mom or I had seen a funeral where the procession had no escort of any sort, and it bothered my mother considerably.

On the other end of the scale, when my dad passed away a few years ago here, the procession was lengthy and the escort given was something else.  Dad had been a longtime county commissioner, so he got the "royal treatment".  While the Midland P.D. provided the escort, the sheriff, himself, lead the procession.

Was riding in the lead car for a funeral procession last week. No police escort; the hearse had HAWs, but the lead car itself only had a purple dashlight that the driver didn't even plug in.  Having just seen a news clip out of Cincinnati (I think?) that morning of a hearse that got t-boned and rolled in an intersection, I definitely had a bit of a butt clench moment as we rolled through intersections.  I'm definitely in support of funeral homes outfitting their vehicles with tasteful lighting in areas where they're operating without police escorts.
