Really? I would have never guessed.
In Italy, vehicle sirens are divided into two categories:
Public safety emergency vehicles (State Police, Carabinieri) and public rescue vehicles (ambulances and fire trucks). Both have two frequencies (dual-tone).

Unfortunately, they are not as loud as the American ones.

Yes, because the American ones are louder. In Italy, however, it can happen that road users—due to music, phone use, or closed windows—do not clearly hear the approaching emergency vehicles and therefore do not move aside
