Whelen Pioneer LiFe

Whelen has recently released the Pioneer LiFe™ Battery Operated Portable Area Light Series. This is a rechargeable portable flood light based on the Pioneer lighthead. The model number is LF35.

Regarding the release date:

• The product sheet lists a date of 1/24/17, but has been around since at least 1/1/17, with a date of 11/10/16.
• The product catalog lists a date of 1/24/17, but has been around since at least 5/18/16 with a date of 4/20/16.
• The product site, which still boasts 'Coming Summer 2016!' currently, has been around since at least 5/9/16.
• Whelen released a product announcement video on October 11, 2016:
  
• A press release on Officer.com lists a date of April 21, 2016.

The Pioneer LiFe is currently lumped in with the Automotive Flashers and Lightheads category on the Whelen website.

The current Whelen automotive price list, number PL17.0WL, dated 12/29/16, showing effective 12/21/16 through 6/29/17, shows the LF35 as follows:



Based on Whelen's standard retail pricing formula:

• The list price of $1,425 for the 12 volt version equates to a retail price of $855.
• The list price of $1,525 for the 115 to 240 volt version equates to a retail price of $915.

The LF35 is billed as having 3.5 hours runtime at full intensity or 7.0 hours in battery-saver mode. The Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery can recharge in 4 to 5 hours using its inductive charging base. The charging base doubles as a mounting bracket that's NFPA 1901 compliant when mounted in any orientation. The light itself has earned an IP67 ingress protection rating.

The LF35 weighs 7.5 pounds, and measures 7.59 inches high, 9.17 inches wide, and 9.20 inches deep. The Pioneer Slimline Optic lighthead comes with both a floodlight lens and an 8° TIR optic lens, produces 3,500 usable lumens at a color temperature of 6,000° Kelvin and is adjustable over 180 degrees. The warranty term is five years.
