Grimes Aviation Beacons

I still don't exactly know what I am looking at... other than a historic airplane..?

I think the tie-in is that the plane was a used by Grimes to demo anti-collision aircraft beacons, and also once a flying laboratory to develop lighting products.

I believe the Cotner-Bevington and Miller Meteor Ambulances used something like a Grimes light as the corner flashers on their Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Cadillac ambulances. Each light took two bulbs, and the bulbs were mirrored on one side. The lamps had a teardrop shaped glass lens but a metal cap.

Would be nice to see some pictures?
