Axixtech ST6 (Super Thin) Surface mount

That looks like a great, universal option for under rear liftgates without having to recess mount (and for low-pro surface mounting as makeshift mirrorbeams)

Are these required to be mounted to metal surfaces for heat dissipation?

Wow. As said above, those would be PERFECT for tailgate mounting, and would have saved me a bunch of time with the dremel notching the grille on my Explorer.

Any chance of a "spot" configuration, or would that require thicker lenses & defeat the purpose?

Can't wait to see a video of this baby in action!

PJ,

I believe they will have the same optics as the MS^ series (TIR internal optics with a defuser cover optics). I will post pics and video once I get our demo units.

Nice, the low profile should make it easy to use on front fenders for intersections.

Wait for the ID6 and ID26 in January, they are bit thicker but take the LEDs on the end and point them outward to the side. This gives you an almost 180 degree coverage from a 6 LED light head.

We just got a few of these in to sample.

They are the Axixtech St6. We only got the them in amber but axixtech says all colors can ship.

I am damn impressed by these things. They are under .5" thick, and have a massive output. We think they would be perfect for use as side fender lights, or under doors. They actually look pretty good on the front of a push bumper too. You could bolt them right to the crossover without having to have another bracket and they would not protrude to the point that they would get damaged if the push bar were to be used.

We have put it up against some similar lights like the sound off ghost, Feniex cobra t6, and the MS6 series from Axixtech and it is just as bright, but way lower profile.

We have ran it on our test bench for 24 hours, and the whole light is warm as you would expect. I actually expected not to be able to touch it due to its size, but it seems to dissipate heat very well.

The light has an aluminum heatsink and a lens that is adheard to that. I also like the cable that leaves it. it has 18 gauge wire and is way easier to work with.

For it's size, it feels pretty durable, and really, there is not much to break on it. Super simple light, thin, and bright. built in flasher and sync able.

MSRP is around $100 we would be selling them for $75 each.

What do you think?

Thanks for the review. Have you had a chance to test it with external flashers? Axixtech ms3/ms6 are not compatible with external flashers.

That would be my question as well.

I will hook them up to one on monday and see if they will. I am guessing no if the m6 series doesn't...

Did you have a chance to check them?

Days and months have gone by and no answer to the question. Can these be hooked to an external flasher?????

Hmmmm these would definitely be nice looking to make some fake "Mirrorbeams" out of.... Wouldn't stick out like most lights would or need a cutout like recessed would....

I got a pair of these. They have a different name on the box. I set them to steady burn and they would not work with a flasher. Could I be doing something wrong? Here is a couple pics of them mounted.

I hope its just something set up wrong. I know in another post someone had tested it with an external flasher and it worked. I was was planning to order a pair but may have to reconsider.

Which flasher are you using? Make sure you are not using a negative switched flasher......

Not all LED heads are compatible with LED flashers. Some heads have a microsecond delay before power on, which makes them 'play poorly' with external flashers. Example, was trying to sync 2 FedSig LED Highlighters off an external flasher, which also happened to be a FedSig flasher. The HL had a very small delay before power on which made it impossible to use them with the external flasher.

I suspect that is the case her as well.

These don't play well with a flasher. I have yet to find a flasher that will work to my satisfaction with these light heads.

That being said, they are still a great light and I have yet to have a customer that was not impressed with them.

Apparently it doesnt matter. Sorry. I guess these lightheads have too much of a delay
